This morning the First Ward Community Fund, Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD), Charlotte Housing Authority (CHA) and First Ward Place Apartments dispensed all manner of school supplies for the new school year.
NATCA Charitable Foundation and Vector Shirts stepped up, again, to help us help our young neighbors. All told we provided nearly $1,800 in supplies.
The Case Manager Melissa Jones coordinated with families to identify needs. Once again, members of CMPD, Central Division, did the shopping and sorting.
Officer Simpson had the day running smooth, which meant a stress free and fun day for all. Parents and children arrived at appointed times to allow for delivery and interaction with the officers manning the supply stations. Friendships were continued, and new ones were made. First Ward is a special neighborhood and this type of joint ventures make us better.
