Today the Community Fund, Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD), Charlotte Housing Authority (CHA) and First Ward Place Apartments brought smiles, and lots of school supplies, to children in First Ward.
Thanks to NATCA Charitable Foundation and Vector Shirts we were able to provide more than $1,500 in supplies to our young residents.
The Case Managers did an awesome job coordinating with families to identify where the needs were and the men and woman of CMPD had the day organized in spectacular fashion. Members of CMPD went shopping with help from older children in their Mentoring Program. These small and efficient groups were able to get all manner of supplies and organize those for distribution.
The group had fun as we spent a Saturday at the Make-A-Difference Center working with the children. Supplies were delivered, smiles and hugs were in abundance and new friendships were made.
