CMPD Central Division

002aAs we do each year, today we delivered a large supply of Gatorade for the men and women who will patrol uptown this Fourth of July.

Karie Greathouse, the president of First Ward Neighbors, and Bob Szymkiewicz, the founder of the First Ward Community, visited the Central Division offices to say thank you for the hard work, leave the Gatorade and talk about the state of the neighborhood. Captain Campagna was held up by meetings but called later to provide an update.

Our new Community Coordinator, Office Hall, is settling in nicely and he is working a few initiatives. Our number one crime is still larceny from auto and more times then not people are either leaving valuables in plain site or not locking their vehicle. The police have an eye on a few “trouble” spots in First Ward and Uptown, they’re working on building relationships with our young residents and moving forward with a mentoring program. All things considered the state of the neighborhood and uptown are good.

Residents are reminded to lock your doors and keep valuables out of sight and please call 911 if you see something suspicious. Enjoy the 4th of July but please take care. Also; remember to say thank you to the officers on duty.
