CAT 5 Take The Siver Medal

It was a long strange trip but the ladies of CAT 5 emerged asDSCF0585 the┬áState Silver Medalist, in the fifty plus division, at the North Carolina Senior Games. The softball team had contests in Gastonia, Salisbury, Winston-Salem and finally in Raleigh for the finals. The Tournament was thrown into turmoil by epic rain and thus the ladies had to play a weeks worth of games in one day. The Team survived the Great Rain of 2014 and then nearly won the Tournament…ultimately losing first place by one run to the Seniors from Salisbury.

The second place finish allows the the Team to compete in the U.S. Senior Olympics held in Minnesota next year.

Cat 5 competed in the fifty and up category and had players ranging from fifty to seventy-eight years old. They are hoping to participate in Minnesota but will definitely be back at Raleigh next year for the 2015 State Senior Games.

The ladies expressed gratitude to their sponsor Savvy and Company which made a generous designated donation to the First Ward Community Fund to help offset the costs associated with this endeavor.
