It’s that time again. Each year, on Independence Day, the First Ward Community Fund provides lunch for the men and women on duty at Fire Station One. This is how we, in First Ward, says thank you to the Charlotte Fire Department for helping to keep us safe each and every day.
The loss of nineteen firefighters in Arizona serves as a reminder of just how dangerous the profession is. Yet these men and women never hesitate to perform heroic deeds when called upon. We appreciate them and honor them and if they have to work on a holiday we feel they should be treated like heroes.
Each year the feast gets better and this year will be no exception. Thanks to our friends at Reid’s, Harris Teeter and PATCO Foods the crew will be eating a fantastic meal. Salad and chicken speidies for those who want to be healthy. Traditional hotdogs and chips for those who don’t. And all manner of goodies in between.
Neighbors are encouraged to stop by the Station to say hello and thank you. Children are welcome and they always love visiting the station and meeting the fire fighters.
Station One is located at 221 N. Myers Street.
