First Ward and the Bobcats

While the Bobcats’ season ended on a disappointing note, with a 104 to 84 lose to the New York Knicks, many children and families in First Ward will remember the year  differently. More than one-hundred and thirty residents were able to enjoy the NBA thanks to our ticket program. The First Ward Community Fund gave away four tickets to every home game and we shall continue to do so in the future. Charlotte Housing Authority Case Managers use the tickets to reward children who do well in school or who do volunteer work and acknowledge parents who were excelling in the Family Self Sufficiency Program. For many members of our community this was a first opportunity to attend a professional sporting event.  Case Manager Mellisa Jones said the incentive program was really appreciated by her clients. They really felt special when recognized for the hard work they do every day.
