The 27th Annual National Night Out (NNO), a unique crime and drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW), has been scheduled for Tuesday, August 3, 2010.
Charlotte, North Carolina, August 3, 2010: The First Ward Community Fund will host its annual “Party with the Police” as part of the nation-wide National Night Out celebration. National Night Out is an event that brings together communities and Police Departments across the country in an effort to improve relationships and to let criminals know they are not welcome. The party will be held in First Ward in the linear park on East Ninth Street (between North Davidson Street and North Caldwell Street) from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
Organizers expect a large turnout again this year. Both children and adults will enjoy ice cream from Buck’s Ice Cream — the truck arrives at 6:00pm. Mayor Anthony Foxx, a First Ward resident, will address the crowd at 6:30pm. Many community leaders and elected official are expected to stop-by to meet the neighbors and two unique works of art will be on display for neighbors to enjoy.
The First Ward Community Fund is a nonprofit corporation with a mission to provide educational, cultural and social enrichment for the residents of First Ward.
